Biden continues to fail in the most basic understanding of the Constitution and Natural Law

Yes, Mr. President, the reason the people own "assault weapons" is to kill –if, God forbid it, the time comes to stop criminals or tyrants in the defense of life and liberty.

Our Founders believed in Natural Law – fixed, observable principles in Creation that include the fundamentals of human nature and identity. They held the truth of God-given rights and equality to be self-evident; that is, requiring no evidence outside a functioning brain and two eyeballs.

The Second Amendment was established because the right to free speech, religion, press, assembly, or petition of grievances has never and will never be upheld by powerful men and women who don't like people disagreeing with them. It has absolutely nothing to do with hunting.

Zero.

Zilch.

Nada.

The Founders knew that an armed citizenry was the only way to prevent the government from running roughshod over everyone's rights, because power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This was another self-evident law – the sinfulness of mankind – that people once intuitively knew.

They could not have comprehended the sheer destruction of modern technology, but the advance of technology to allow greater travesty does not negate the principles on which they started this nation. In fact, it makes their words more urgent than ever before.

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies." - George Washington

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson

There is nowhere in the world outside America – except Canada and a handful of European countries that rest upon a heritage of Judeo-Christian morality, a belief in Natural Law, and the protection of the United States – that enjoys such freedom. The elites, not the people, rule in every nation from Zimbabwe to Indonesia to Turkey to China to Mexico, no matter how many "elections" they hold or how many times they put "democratic republic" ahead of their names.

Freedom in America has prevented the government from controlling everything, allowing regular people to come up with ideas, sell those ideas in the free market for the benefit of other people, and protect their homes and families if anyone tries anything shifty. Our INSANE development over the last century is the result of individual liberty, not big government planning. For when the government is in control of life and innovation, it uses life and innovation exclusively for its purposes, and at whatever cost.

We may not like the idea of having and using modern firepower, no more than the common man liked the advance of bronze spears to steel swords, the age of armored knights to canonry, or the use of musket balls to the rimfire cartridge.

But we live in such an age – and an age with much more frightening weapons than semi-automatic weapons at that. The question is how we will handle and use the tools of this age.

The Second Amendment protects the entirety of the Constitution. It does so by threatening the tyrant and the petty criminal with death. The only way this is accomplished, of course, is if the tyrant and petty criminal are afraid of the weapons you use – hence why we use modern weapons and not smooth-bore muskets meant for hunting squirrels.

"In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions." – James Madison

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops." – Noah Webster

Biden, as the president, you are like a lion chastising porcupines on their bristling hides.

What in God's name do you need quills for except to kill someone?

That's the point, Mr. Lion.

And your failure to see it as you leverage a tragedy for your own goals is either extreme ignorance of the entire system that underpins our liberty, or a purposeful attempt to destroy it.
