Get excited everyone! Apple is putting out an update for your iPhone that will allow you to use your face ID without taking your mask off.
Seriously, this is next level clown world stuff.
Yeah, so now you can unlock your iPhone without having to lower your mask for half a second, thus putting yourself at risk of death from the deadliest disease of all time.
(Since we all know that we can only remove our masks when sitting at tables where Covid can't get us.)
This isn't a joke, either. This is being Beta tested right now and will be available for all users soon enough.
To enable Face ID while wearing a mask, an iPhone "can recognize the unique features around the eye area to authenticate," according to Apple. However, Apple cautions that using Face ID with a mask is less secure, and that the biometric authentication system remains "most accurate" when used with full-face recognition.
So, while it may be less secure, we are assured that they can still tell who we are just by looking at the features around our eyes.
Besides being great news for the Covid-insane people out there who never want to remove their masks, this is even better news for the ever more powerful surveillance state. Now they only have to see half your face to know it's you!
What a comforting thought.
