Elie Mystal, writer over at The Nation and frequent contributor on MSNBC and other liberal news outlets, went on The View and proudly proclaimed that the Constitution is trash.
Watch, then I'll break it down:
Asked about whether the Constitution should be thrown out or re-written, or if it's a living document, this is how Mystal responds:
The Constitution is kind of trash... It was written by slavers and colonists and white people who were willing to make deals with slavers and colonists. They didn't ask anybody who looked like me what they thought about the Constitution.
Even Joy Behar couldn't believe what was coming out of this dude's mouth. She had to get him to repeat it.
Then, Mystal went on this woke, CRT-based rant about how the Constitution has to be trash because it was written by white people and there were no black people involved.
One of the greatest documents in human history is called "trash" by this guy who doesn't understand the first thing about history.
Of course, Elie makes a good point while defending himself on Twitter:
Yep. He's right.
This shouldn't be a shock at all. We know the Left is completely radical and their arguments are antithetical to the founding. They hate America and what it stands for, so we shouldn't act surprised when they say it so clearly.
The radical leftists are enemies of the founders and that's what defines them.
Here's the before and after of that short exchange.
He presents his book, explicitly as "anti-Republican" and talks about how the law is used to target minorities. Then he gets into why the Constitution itself is, in his opinion, trash.
After the "trash" comments, he gives his proposed solution to the issue, at about the 2:12 mark.
This document was written without the consent of black and brown people in this country, and without the consent of women in this country.
And I say, if that is the starting point, the very least we can do is ignore what those slavers and colonists and misogynists thought and interpret the Constitution in a way that makes sense for our modern world.
So, the call here from this "intellectual" is to ignore the Constitution. Throw it out. And just interpret it in a way that matches Mr. Mystal's political preference.
This is the radical Left. Not one person on this panel pushed back against these insane ideas. The audience applauds for it.
Keep pushing this stuff, Democrats! November is coming!
