This is from 30 years ago, but if you only listened to the audio, you'd think it was from today:
First of all, hearing Rush's voice again... 😭
Second of all, Rush nails it. For 30+ years, the alarmist politicians have been crying wolf and telling us we're all gonna die in 10 years if we don't give them more money and power than God.
Their tactics haven't changed one bit since before Al Gore was vice president.
All you have to do is look at the evidence. Al Gore was saying in 1992 that the ice caps were going to melt, the Amazon rainforests were going to disappear, the ozone layer was going to erode, and the oceans were going to die. He made a sizable career pursuing those claims after leaving the Oval Office.
And yet the polar ice caps are still there, the Great Barrier Reef is doing better than ever before, the ozone layer was ditched 20 years ago as a talking point, and the Earth is greening. Whales and other species vital to reducing carbon are surging in population. Deforestation remains an issue, but in many nations there are more forests than ever before as sustainable logging and new technology reduces the demand for wood as a source material (if you want to stop carbon emissions, make the world's poor as rich as possible as fast as possible so they don't have to chop down trees).
One might say that the solution for whatever global warming or cooling trends happen is not to give fear-mongering politicians money to build oceanfront mansions that were supposed to be underwater 20 years ago, but to invest in human creativity and ingenuity.
The environmental movement, as fueled by the militants who lead it, I think is the new home of socialism.
