You know who doesn’t get blocked on Twitter for spreading misinformation about Covid? The Chinese Communist Party.

Lijian Zhao, tweeting from a "China Government Account," posted information that "is very much important" and provides "Further Evidence that the Virus Originated in the US."

Sounds plausible. The CCP even provides a helpful link backing up their claim with solid research.

Probably.

I didn't check it out. That's because when you click on the link, Twitter provides a warning that, among other things, continuing on to the site could expose you to "malicious links that could steal personal information or harm electronic devices."

I guess, we'll just take their word for it. I mean, it's probably legit, right? Particularly considering the source.

Contrast that with Dr. Scott Atlas. Not only does he work for a conservative think tank, he's advising Donald Trump. That's two strikes right there.

Dr. Atlas had the temerity to argue that perhaps masks are useful only in specific settings, calling into question the efficacy of universal mandates. He supported his contention using highly suspect sources such as the CDC and the WHO, both institutions that we are expected to slavishly agree with, except when we're not. I do not advise you click through to those websites as they might expose you to malicious wrongthink that could enhance personal autonomy or harm Joe Biden's reelection chances.

Did Twitter really have a choice here?

No, no they did not. Down came the ban hammer.

It's comforting to know that we are in such good hands, protected from misinformation spread by enemies of the state, while still having ready access to the thoughts and opinions of the Communist Chinese Party.

Thank you Jack Dorsey, thank you for keeping us safe.
