LA Mayor Karen Bass had her house broken into over the weekend ... I wonder if she still thinks we should cut the prison population in half

Have a listen as current LA Mayor Karen Bass talks about bail reform and how lowering bail for criminals could decrease the prison population by half in this country (video from back when she was a congresswoman):

A little spoiler there in that tweet: The mayor, who was the author of the "George Floyd Justice in Policing Act," had her residence broken into on Sunday morning. This really makes me wonder if she might have changed her perspective on all this bail reform nonsense she's been pushing for at least a decade.

Sorry, I mean, you're out here trying to be soft on crime and let people off easy and now you are reaping the rewards.

An intruder was arrested after breaking in to the Los Angeles mayor's official residence early Sunday morning, officials say.

The break-in was reported around 6:40 a.m. at the Getty House residence in Hancock Park, according to the office of Mayor Karen Bass.

LAPD officials say the intruder broke in through a glass door. LAPD officers responded and quickly took the suspect into custody without incident.

Sunday evening, LAPD identified the suspect as Ephraim Matthew Hunter, 29, of Los Angeles. He was booked for burglary. Records indicated he was being held on $100,000 bail.

Bass was home when the male intruder broke in, law enforcement officials told ABC News. An alarm was activated at the home and a large LAPD presence responded, including air support and the mayor's security detail. The suspect was arrested within minutes of the call.

I'm thinking you won't be reducing this guy's bail anytime soon, Mayor Bass.

Man, you're lucky you gave LAPD that raise when you became the mayor (not very progressive of you, by the way). Without that, I'm not sure you'd have been given such a quick response time here.

Authorities aren't saying whether or not the burglar made contact with the mayor, but given that quick response, let's hope he didn't.

And get this, this wasn't Bass' first run-in with burglars.

Bass has been victimized by burglars at least one other time in the recent past, though not at the Getty House.

In 2022 when she was still a member of Congress and running for mayor, two men broke into her Baldwin Vista home and stole a pair of handguns. One man was sentenced to nearly two years behind bars and the other to almost three years.

She didn't learn her lesson that time — unless you include that raise she gave LAPD — and I don't think she'll learn her lesson with this most recent break-in.

She'll just keep pushing prison reform, bail reform — basically any policy that will ensure more crime in Los Angeles.

This is why we can't have nice things!
