YouTuber-turned-UFL kicker Deestroying fractured his neck on this big hit ... now his journey to the NFL is on hold

So if you don't know who Deestroying is, let me catch you up to speed.

This young man, real name Donald De La Haye, made a name for himself on YouTube which caused a whole lot of trouble for him when it came to his football scholarship kicking field goals at the University of Central Florida. Back then, student athletes were not allowed to profit from their name, image, or likeness (NIL).

Basically, UCF told him he could either demonetize his YouTube page or lose his scholarship. De La Haye chose his YouTube page. He sued the university in 2018 and settled in court, with the school allowing him to finish his degree.

Here's one of his YouTube videos to give you an idea of what he's all about.

Fast-forward to 2019, and De La Haye was with the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts, where he made the practice team but ended up quitting because he was making more money on YouTube. In 2021, he got invited to try out at the NFL Combine, but nothing came of that either.

Fast-forward once again to March of this year, and De La Haye became the starting kicker for the San Antonio Brahmans of the United Football League, the minor leagues of professional football.

That brings us to the bittersweet highlight of De La Haye's football career, coming in week 2 of the UFL season.

That had to hurt!

And hurt it did…

Yes, it's injured reserve for Deestroying. A sad way to (likely) end his 2024 season.

Dee appeared a bit shaken up by the play ... but managed to get up on his own power and trot back to the sidelines.

The Brahmas announced he was placed on Injured Reserve ... but on Tuesday, Dee revealed the extent of his ailment -- as well as a selfie that showed him in a brace.

Such a shame for Dee's journey to pause like this. Remember to keep your head up, kids!

Dee had been the top kicker in the league for the first two weeks of play. He was getting so close to that NFL dream.

Kid's got a leg!

Hoping you a speedy recovery, Dee.

And we'll be keeping an eye on your career as you continue your quest to make an NFL roster.
