The destruction and chaos kicked off after French police shot and killed a 17-year-old Algerian Muslim during a traffic stop in Paris.

The violence and destruction appear to be ends in themselves, as looting, burning, and smashing were widespread in French cities, with even schools being set ablaze.

Some clips from the streets show gunfire and heavy weaponry.

Even the Holocaust memorial in Paris was vandalized.
