Pennsylvanians are to be on the lookout as police enter their 9th day of searching for an escaped convict and murderer Danelo Souza Cavalcante, a Brazilian national who killed two people.
On August 31st, Cavalcante escaped the Chester County Prison by scaling a wall, a razor wire fence, and jumping from a roof.
After the daring escape, there have been eight reported sightings of the escaped killer; however, he continues to evade capture.
A civilian saw someone who looked like Cavalcante running through an area near Longwood Gardens, one of the country's top botanical gardens. A surveillance camera on a trail had captured Cavalcante walking through the garden grounds Monday night.
Residents were on edge but comforted by the police presence.
Police have put stakeouts up all over the area, including, reportedly having officers with machine guns stand watch on people's porches in the areas where Cavalcante was spotted.
The family of one of Cavalcante's victims is under 24/7 protection.
Even Google Maps now shows where the police perimeter is set up:
Police helicopters have also been circling the area non-stop:
The police are offering a $20,000 reward for any information that leads to the capture of this escaped prisoner.
In a harrowing encounter last Friday, someone — likely Cavalcante — broke into nearby resident Ryan Drummond's home.
Waking up to a noise in the kitchen at around 11:40 p.m., he grabbed a framed family photo as a shield then flickered the hall lights from upstairs several times.
He felt a jolt of fear when the intruder flicked them back...
Police came within a minute but not before Cavalcante, if it was him, was on the run again with a few pieces of fruit in hand.
Cavalcante is believed by authorities to be tired, emaciated, and completely worn out by this point on the 9th day of the search. However, despite frequent leads, police have yet to lay eyes on the escapee.
If you are in Pennsylvania, keep your head on a swivel!
