This NFL sideline reporter may get fired after admitting that she sometimes makes up sideline reports... but I'm sure CNN can find an opening for her!

NFL sideline reporter Charissa Thompson stepped in major doo-doo this week when she admitted to fabricating sideline reports during games.

Thompson, who does the sideline reporting for Amazon Prime's weekly game and for Fox News told the folks on the Pardon My Take podcast that she occasionally lies about doing her job on air.

I've said this before, so I haven't been fired for saying it, but I'll say it again. I would make up the report sometimes... because, A, the coach wouldn't come out at halftime, or it was too late and … I didn't want to screw up the report, so I was like, ‘I'm just going to make this up...'

No coach is going to get mad if you say 'Hey, we need to stop hurting ourselves, we need to be better on third down, we need to stop turning the ball over and do a better job of getting off the field.'

Okay, A LOT is going on here in these two paragraphs.

First, apparently, Thompson has boasted about lying and not doing her job in the past. Second, Thompson doesn't see why it's a big deal. Thirdly, she's clearly saying this just to appear cool and funny on a podcast. Finally, and most importantly, she's revealing how completely unnecessary her job is!

I mean, she's right. Coaches all say the same obvious thing. There's nothing interesting about the interviews.

Maybe Charissa isn't the only one who should lose her job... maybe the job of sideline reporter should be dropped altogether.

Bill Burr has the best take on this:

It's a bunch or nerds interrupting people that know what they're doing!

But, in response to this admission by Thompson, every other sideline journalist is going BANANAS on her, and insisting they do a good and important job and they never make things up.

Here come the sideline gals!

I mean, you do have to feel bad for these ladies who work very hard and do a good job, only for some other woman in the profession to expose that no one cares about their work and most people find it pretty pointless.

HOWEVER, this whole story did lead to some hilarious memes from Thursday night's Bengals game with Thompson on the sideline:

Charissa, if you're going to just make up whatever you want to say and put words in other people's mouths maybe try auditioning for CNN!
