101-year-old woman tells her secret to a long life: “Tequila"
· Nov 12, 2022 · NottheBee.com

In her 101 years of life, Mary Flip lived through wars, and the Great Depression, raised six children, lived in two countries, and became a well-known artist.

The secret to her longevity? In her words,

"Oh, my secret? Hmm, I don't know. Tequila."

Not exactly the same solid advice for a long life that others have given....

But obviously, at age 101 Mary Flip hasn't lost her sense of humor. When asked "how do you feel?" she jokingly replied,

With my hand.

Flip grew up in Illinois during the Depression, and at 15 became the only surviving member of her family. At 18 she moved to Mexico, where she was married, and lived as a rancher. When she had her first of six children, they moved back to the Chicago area, where she became an artist.

She commented on her life as an artist saying,

I really like to draw. And I was able to figure out that things change even as you're drawing them. So, I was able to develop and make them look real. It took time but I had nothin' else to do except raise a bunch of kids.

I only hope I can obtain her level of humor by the time I get to be 101!
