180-day "Around the World" cruise sells out in one day, and I'd rather die than be stuck on a boat for half a year.

I'll never understand people who like cruises.

I went on a really short one a few years ago and it was the worst. I didn't get sea sick or anything, and I did like that the soft-serve machine was always available, but it was just soooooo BOOORING. After two days, I was done and ready to go home. But I couldn't leave.

Cuz I was stuck on a boat.

But some people just love them some cruises for some reason.

Well, psycho, self-hating cruise-lovers now have the opportunity of a lifetime to be trapped on a floating Covid incubator with a bunch of strangers for half a year!

Well... had the opportunity of a lifetime, I should say.

Because Oceania's 180-day "Around the World" cruise which is scheduled to set sail in 2023, sold out in a single day!

"The response to our epic 2023 around the world voyage clearly illustrates the enthusiasm that experienced travelers have for immersive and memorable travel experiences," said Bob Binder, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises, in a press release. "Despite the challenges the world faces today, travelers are clearly bullish on the future and are embracing these new opportunities to travel the world and create lifelong memories."

The cruise can actually be up to 218 days long depending on where you embark and disembark.

WHICH IS WAAAAY TOO LONG EVEN IF YOU LIKE CRUISES! RIGHT??

And, I know what you're thinking, was it free? Or was there some sort of prize money involved that would convince people to subject themselves to that? Is this a joke?

No. People actually PAID for it.

And the price per ticket was between $41,599 and $49,999 per guest.

I can't help but think of the daring sailors of old who dreaded the obscenely long ocean crossings they had to endure to support their families. Imagine what they'd think if they heard us idiots dropping 50 large to be stuck on a boat for half a year just so we could stuff our faces with reheated frozen chicken and pull the lever on a slot machine all day!

Actually... they'd probably think that was pretty awesome...

But I still think it's dumb.
