The great Quincy Jones passed away peacefully in his Bel Aire, California, home on Sunday. The 28-time Grammy winner was 91 years old.
Jones was perhaps best known for producing Michael Jackson's album, Thriller, but his reach went far beyond this. The jazz musician produced albums for Frank Sinatra, Patty Austin, and Little Richard, among others. He composed the scores for the films Walk Don't Run, Roots, The Wiz, and many more. Jones helped Lesley Gore break into the music scene with her single, "It's My Party," as well as "You Don't Own Me."
And you might know this collaboration which Jones produced: "We Are the World."
But my favorite piece of Quincy Jones's music, if I had to pick one, would be this gem right here:
There are so many pieces of music to choose from when it comes to Quincy Jones, and I'll be listening to them for the rest of the week.
May the legend rest in peace.
