A Canadian Pacific train carrying hazardous materials derailed in North Dakota last night, according to local reports.

The incident occurred at 11:15 p.m., about a mile southeast of Wyndmere in Richland County, about 60 miles southwest of Fargo. Of the 70 cars that were on the train, 31 derailed. Some of these cars leaked liquid asphalt.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. The leaked materials are slated to be solidified by the cold weather and are expected to turn into a gel, according to officials cited by WZFG.

As a precaution, roadways 158 and 159 Avenue Southeast will be closed between Highway 13 and 14 while crews continue the cleanup, which is expected to last between seven and ten days.

This is just the latest in a spate of train derailments that have occurred in recent months.
