According to the University of Michigan, only 8.6% of serial killers are female, but these charges out of Ohio should serve as a warning that they are out there.
From CBS:
An Ohio woman has been indicted on murder charges in the "serial killings" of at least four men in the capital city of Columbus, the Ohio attorney general said Wednesday, though investigators believe there are more victims.
Rebecca Auborn, a 33-year-old from Columbus, is accused of meeting men for sex before fatally drugging them and then robbing them, state Attorney General Dave Yost said in a statement.
Yes, not to be cruel, but: This woman is indeed 33 years old. I don't know what kind of life you have to lead to look like this in your early 30s, but apparently she's lead it.
The suspect is facing an absolute whopper of a charge list, consisting of "four counts of murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter, five counts of aggravated robbery, five counts of felonious assault, five counts of corrupting another with drugs, one count of tampering with evidence and four counts of trafficking in drugs."
That's a lot.
The five identified victims in the case suffered one attempted and four fatal overdoses between December of last year and June of this year, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's office said.
Local news reported one month ago that Auborn had been charged in one overdose death; other unsolved overdose cases were allegedly connected to her.
Yost himself put it simply and succinctly:
Don't buy sex in Ohio - it ruins lives and could cost you yours.
To that we might add: Don't buy sex anywhere... and stay away from drugs.
Our country needs some serious help, y'all...
