Sad news here: A 69-year-old Jewish man has passed away after an altercation with pro-Palestine protesters in Thousand Oaks, California. Reports from witnesses, and now the autopsy have led to this being investigated as a homicide and a hate crime, which just makes me sick to my stomach.
Paul Kessler succumbed to injuries sustained at dueling demonstrations on Sunday in Thousand Oaks and authorities are investigating his death as a possible hate crime, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said.
Kessler, an Israel supporter, was involved in a scuffle with pro-Palestinian protesters around 3:20 p.m. when he suffered a head injury during the confrontation, authorities and family friends said.
An autopsy conducted Monday determined Kessler's manner of death was a homicide, and the cause of death was blunt force head injury, the sheriff's office said.
The Los Angeles Times reported Kessler was struck in the head before he was knocked over, citing deputies. When reached by The Post late Monday, a sheriff's spokesperson didn't confirm or deny what led up to the fall.
There's no confirmation that Kessler was hit over the head with a megaphone by the pro-Palestine protester before falling to the cement, though many on the scene reported this to be true.
Here are the only videos from Sunday (rumor has it the attacker recorded the entire encounter which is yet to be released):
[Warning: Graphic]
Just disgusting.
And if you want to know how backwards our world is, look how MSNBC covered the story:
"Dies after hitting head"
"Fell and struck his head"
More from the NBC story:
Witnesses said Paul Kessler, 69, "was in a physical altercation with counter-protestor(s)," the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.
"During the altercation, Kessler fell backwards and struck his head on the ground," it said.
They framed the whole thing as if the man was being violent towards the Palestinian crowd and happened to just trip.
Angry man found out, right?
Except the authorities, and even the far-left LA Times, blast that lie out of the water.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy determined Paul Kessler died as a result of a blunt force head injury and called the manner of death a homicide.
NBC notes that as well, but the term "murder" or "homicide" appears well after they've framed the headline and story in a particular way.
It's not objective "let's wait for the evidence" reporting. It's despicable. NBC News has been gunning for most evil outlet lately.
We don't know exactly what happened at this point. Perhaps he was hit over the head, then fell and hit his head again. Maybe he was pushed (if you push someone and they fall and die, that's murder, folks). But when the police are treating something as a homicide and multiple witnesses attest to that fact, you LEAD WITH THAT DETAIL IN THE HEADLINE.
Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. local time Tuesday where more information could be disclosed.
A tragedy, to say the least.
Rest in peace, Mr. Kessler.
