A diver just broke a world record by staying underwater for 100 days in an "undersea lodge"

There are some world records you might be interested in beating and others you'd probably prefer to just leave to someone else.

This is one of the ones I'd prefer to just leave to someone else.

A university professor who spent 100 days living underwater at a Florida Keys lodge for scuba divers resurfaced Friday and raised his face to the sun for the first time since March 1.

Dr. Joseph Dituri set a new record for the longest time living underwater without depressurization during his stay at Jules' Undersea Lodge, submerged beneath 30 feet of water in a Key Largo lagoon.

This is indeed a "lodge" that is sunken in a little lagoon. You can see it from above.

Dituri's accomplishment was notable because, as reports point out, the lodge itself matches the pressure in the water around it. Scientists were interested in studying how the human body might cope at higher pressures for that length of time.

It appears that "Dr. Deep Sea" is no worse for the wear, which is good. The lodge itself, meanwhile, looks like it has spartan if comfortable facilities for those who stay there:

As one YouTuber discovered, you gain access to the lodge by following an underwater line to the entrance.

Don't think I'll be Airbnb'ing this place anytime soon but it's still pretty dang cool!
