If you were in Utah on Saturday morning and you happened to notice a freakish and alarming explosion-like sound along with the rattling of your windows, don't panic: It was probably just a giant fireball from the ancient recesses of outer space.
Utah residents were left puzzling over what caused a loud boom Saturday morning that reportedly shook some homes and was captured on home security cameras.
Officials were quickly able to rule out an earthquake or seismic activity, and it was not related to the state's military installations, Gov. Spencer Cox said on Twitter. ...
The leading and likely theory behind the boom is that it was caused by a meteor.

A meteor does seem to be the best explanation. The military also said they didn't blow anything up over the entire state on Saturday, and the National Weather Service confirmed it wasn't thunder.
