17-year-old Mason Howell of Snellville, Georgia, has qualified for the US Open in dramatic fashion, shooting 18 under in two rounds at the Atlanta qualifier on Golf's Longest Day.

The 17-year-old is ranked #8 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings. He's still a junior in high school, and when he graduates he plans to golf at the University of Georgia.

You can catch Howell at the US Open at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania next Thursday and Friday; and hopefully you'll see him on the weekend as well (he'll have to make the cut).

If he can play anywhere near the level of golf he played on Monday, he'll be playing the weekend without question. Shooting 18 under in two rounds is just bonkers, so I honestly might have to kick back at my computer and watch that entire tournament (sorry if I don't get many articles out in the latter half of next week).

As far as the record books go, the youngest person ever to qualify for the US Open was Andy Zhang, who played the 2012 US Open at just 14 years old.

Here's Mason after his outstanding performance Monday:

Stay focused, young man!

Can't wait to see your name on the big screen next weekend!
