It has become a fairly common sentiment in Christian circles that the end of cultural Christianity in the US and the rise of the "negative world" where our culture is opposed to Christianity will be a good thing for the Church.
The argument is basically that this will be a testing ground for the Church and it will prove beneficial because it will leave us with "true believers" who can withstand a culture opposed to Christianity.
And while a trial by fire can produce good results, it doesn't mean we should be quick to celebrate the flames.
Consider this:
A culture that's influenced by Christians is no doubt going to create a world with more believers. Persecution spreads the Gospel, but so too has a Christian culture that has advanced the cause of the Great Commission more in the last century than the previous 20, according to the will of God and the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Don't be quick to embrace the underdog role, and don't be hasty to give up the culture.
