A man dressed as a woman in a wheelchair threw a cake at the Mona Lisa to protest climate change

This is real, I promise. We don't do any of that silly satire here.

Yes, that's video of security wiping cake off the glass that protects the infamous Mona Lisa after some dude threw a literal cake at it.

More from the AP:

A man seemingly disguised as an old woman in a wheelchair threw a piece of cake at the glass protecting the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum and shouted at people to think of planet Earth.

I'm sorry, did you guys just assume his gender??

And how do you know what an old woman looks like? What is a woman anyway??

Videos posted on social media appear to show a young man in a wig and lipstick who had arrived in a wheelchair. The man, whose identity was unknown, was also seen throwing roses in the museum gallery on Sunday.

The cake attack left a conspicuous white creamy smear on the glass but the famous work by Leonardo da Vinci wasn't damaged.

Imagine trying to destroy one of the greatest works of art in all history and still thinking you're a good guy.

The Mona Lisa has been kept behind glass since the '50s, when another weirdo damaged it by throwing acid on it.

Of course, this recent attack was carried out in the name of saving Mother Gaia from the scourge of the Sun Monster and his accomplice, the Carbon Demon.

Security guards were filmed escorting the wig-wearing activist away as he called out to the surprised visitors in the gallery: "Think of the Earth. There are people who are destroying the Earth. Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That's why I did this."

Unfortunately, the young man significantly increased his carbon footprint by requiring the use of vehicles, computers, and facilities to detain and book him!
