There's a whole big extended family in the Grand Rapids area that is finally rejoicing that it can buy pink baby clothes again for the first time since Grover Cleveland was president:
Two-week-old Audrey was born on March 17 -- St. Patrick's Day -- to Carolyn and Andrew Clark of Caledonia.
Audrey also happens to be the first daughter on Andrew Clark's side of the family since 1885, according to the Clarks' family records.
That is a long stretch. For reference, 1885 is the year:
- The Statute of Liberty came to America
- Ulysses S. Grant died
- The first Dr. Pepper was served
- The first skyscraper (the Chicago Home Insurance Building) came into being.
The Clark family hasn't laid claim to a girl since all of that stuff happened!
