Admit it, you wouldn't mind being 11.6 billion miles from Earth today: NASA makes contact with Voyager 2 for the first time since March.

And at over 15 kilometers per second, it can't get away from here fast enough.

Contact was lost earlier this year when the only antenna that can communicate with Voyager 2, the 230-foot-wide Deep Space Station 43 radio antenna in Canberra, Australia, began undergoing upgrades, taking it temporarily offline.

Voyager 2, only the second object created by humans to leave the solar system (Voyager 1 was first), is certainly inspiring and fires up the imagination, but I think we all know how this ends.

With a movie that was about an hour too long.
