After 72 years of the act being outlawed, the people of Oregon are about to experience the joys of pumping their own gas

New Jersey and Oregon have notoriously forbidden people from pumping their own gas at the pump for decades.

However, the Oregon legislature just sent a law to Governor Tina Kotek, which she intends to sign, legalizing self-serve pumps at gas stations. The bill is a response to a staffing shortage in the state.

So why is there a staffing shortage in Oregon?

1) Because their politicians' communist policies have made places like Portland nigh uninhabitable for law-abiding citizens, causing people to flee the state in droves.

2) The Guttmacher Institute estimates that 17.7% of pregnancies in the state end in abortion; a number that has held up over decades. It's hard to maintain a replacement birth rate with numbers like that.

But you know what they say: Weak men make hard times, but hard times make strong men.

Thanks to the hard times created by weak politicians, Oregonians are going to have to man-up and learn to pump their own gas — hopefully without blowing themselves up.

Luckily for the weak men, they won't have to pump all of their own gas.

The weak politicians are still in charge after all.

The bill says that half of every station's pumps still have to be full service, and that station owners cannot charge more for full-service fueling.

So Oregonians that choose to pump their own gas will be doing it at a premium, kind of like checking out your own groceries at the supermarket.
