AOC's deepfake porn ban unanimously passes Senate

You just have to say the two words "porn ban" and, I can guarantee you, I am totally on board.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced a deepfake porn ban bill in the House, and a parallel bill in the Senate passed unanimously.

Of course, AOC frames this in the most lib way possible (focusing solely on consent and the dehumanizing effect of using AI). But she's right that it is evil.

But, hey, I am happy with this one step at a time approach!

The legislation, called the Disrupt Explicit Forged Images and Non-Consensual Edits (DEFIANCE) Act — passed in Congress' upper chamber on Tuesday. The legislation has been led by Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), as well as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in the House.

The legislation would amend the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to allow people to sue those who produce, distribute, or receive the deepfake pornography, if they 'knew or recklessly disregarded' the fact that the victim did not consent to those images.

Lawsuits are a good start.

Also, let's toss these folks in jail while we're at it.

The bill passed 100-0. No one voted against it. So you radical libertarians who might oppose this ban, you don't even have Rand Paul on your side this time!

We are THIS close to passing a narrow ban on pornography that would protect the innocence, reputation, and dignity of many women, and even minors who would be allowed to sue under the act.

Let's get it done.
