We can pretty well remember those heady days when the government was telling us that if we got the jab we wouldn't get COVID ever again:
Well, we all know how wrong that turned out to be. And this week, when asked if that bungle was borne from deliberateness or mere incompetence, one of the nation's preeminent federal COVID officials was just like, "Eh, not sure."
Jim Jordan: "When the government told us—told the American people—that people who had been vaccinated couldn't get it, were they guessing or were they lying?"
Birx: "I don't know."
That...seems like a big admission.
When pushed further, Birx had a slightly more equivocal answer:
"I don't know about their discussions that they had in the task force."
Fair enough. Maybe some enterprising young journalists can file a few FOIAs and get the ball rolling!
