Authorities are preparing for an even more massive influx of illegal immigration when Biden lets a key Trump-era border policy expire next month

At the outset of the pandemic, the Trump administration launched "Title 42," a federal rule that allowed border agents to expel illegal immigrants from the country even if they are seeking asylum here.

That rule has reportedly been used to expel nearly 2,000,000 illegal immigrants. Yet the Biden administration has announced that it will end the policy next month—and authorities near the border are warning of a looming catastrophe when it expires:

The likely end to Title 42 is just around the corner — but authorities are anticipating a "disaster" at the southern border because the Biden administration has "no plan" for the expected crush of illegal immigrants.

"They got no plan," Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez told The Post Thursday.

"They just can't do away with it because they have no plan," he added, referring to the federal health policy implemented during the COVID pandemic that allows authorities to turn away asylum-seekers.

"What are we going to do next? Last year, we were calling it a crisis. This year, it will be a disaster. This is the calm before the storm," said Martinez.

"This is the calm before the storm" is not just cheap talk. Data from Customs and Border Protection show that southwest land border encounters are already absolutely off the charts relative to earlier years:

And that's with Title 42 in place. Imagine what's going to happen to those numbers when it's repealed!

That's not going to be good for the country. And it's definitely not going to be good for Democrats in November.
