A Pittsburgh nursing home, St. Andrew's Village, was invaded by a black bear, which clawed open a window to gain access to the elderly residents.
Charlene Elliot a CNA on duty that night said,
I was sitting there at our nurse's station and I heard a big crash. I thought it was one of the aides that fell, I got up and I'd seen it was a bear coming down the hall towards me!
She sounded the alarm and called for all the residents' doors to be closed.
You can imagine how that went as residents looked out to see what was going on.

The bear then walked into one of the rooms and got nose-to-nose with a resident in bed β like a reverse goldilocks, I guess.
The bear was inside St. Andrew's Village for about 15 minutes and was running through the hallways.
"I told them all to shut the doors. Get the doors all shut!" Elliott recalled.
...
βPlease do not move, touch him, because he could have mauled him. I mean, one swipe,' Elliott recalled telling the residents.
But the residents sounded like they wanted to adopt their ursine visitor.
One of the little old ladies suggested they should feed it a sandwich; that's how you get a stray cat to stick around after all.

βShe's like "Well, go ahead and give it my sandwich!" and I'm like, "No, we can't do that!"' Elliott said.
In the end, Elliott did end up feeding the bear.
She made a trail of Rice Krispies treats that lured the bear outside.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission then setup a trap of donuts and other pastries and caught the bear, so that it could be relocated somewhere far away from the retirement home and not become dependent on little old ladies and their sandwiches.
I guess the old folks will just have to go back to doing whatever they did for fun without a pet bear.
