Biden admin moves to prioritize low-income kidney transplants to fight "racial inequities"

Joe Biden's administration is motivated by equity. And by equity, I mean that we must all be equitably poor.

Now, even our racist organs aren't safe from the equity agenda.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra announced a proposal earlier this month that would push American hospitals performing kidney transplants to prioritize low-income patients.

Why? To fight "racial inequities" in the world of organ transplants!

Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), is announcing the Increasing Organ Transplant Access (IOTA) Model.

"The organ transplant industry, like every other part of society, is not immune to racial inequities," said Becerra. "Black Americans disproportionately struggle with life-threatening kidney disease, yet they receive a smaller percentage of kidney transplants. The Biden-Harris Administration is taking concrete steps to remove racial bias when calculating wait times and rooting out profiteering and inequity in the transplant process."

So, how does this work?

Out of the country's 257 transplant hospitals, 90 would be placed in a pilot program using an annual point grading system. For each successful kidney transplant, the hospital would get one point. But if the patient is low-income, then a "health equity performance adjustment" adds a 20% bonus, giving the hospital 1.2 points, with 60% of the hospital's total score relating to the number of transplants performed alone.

Here's the really bad part (you know, beyond the income-based and race-based discrimination):

The Biden administration is creating direct financial incentive to focus not on need, but equity.

At the end of the year, these points are tallied to calculate the hospital's transplant quota. Hospitals that meet this quota will receive up to $8,000 per transplant, while hospitals that miss this quota might owe up to $2,000 per transplant.

Gee, I wonder what will happen?!

That's not all!

Don't forget the report from earlier this year surrounding the removal of crucial racial adjustments for kidney disease to fight systemic racism, meaning a healthy black person could get a kidney transplant before a dying white person!

Time to be extra nice to your kids, folks. They might be your only hope for a kidney.
