Joe Biden has spent years now openly pretending that his granddaughter, Navy Joan, doesn't exist:

The Biden family has even gone so far as to exclude this little girl from the family Christmas displays:

But now, at last, they're publicly admitting that, yes, this little girl is in fact real:

President Biden publicly acknowledged his seventh grandchild, a 4-year-old named Navy Joan Roberts, for the first time on Friday, capping a month of questions about why he had seemingly excluded the little girl from his tight family circle.

Oh, it's been "a month of questions?" Um I think some of us have been asking these questions a lot longer than a month.

The man is clearly trying to save face after months and months of disgraceful behavior:

"This is not a political issue, it's a family matter," Biden said in the statement. "Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy."

WOW HE ACTUALLY SAID HER NAME! WHAT A LOVING GRANDPOP!

I guess word came down from someone - Hunter's lawyers, maybe - that they probably should finally start conceding that they have a granddaughter instead of acting as though she doesn't exist. I would also think that a tough upcoming election year probably has something to do with it. Call me crazy.

Better late than never, I suppose, although I can't imagine this will look all that better to Navy Joan once she's old enough to realize what happened here.
