Effective immediately, Disrn is being folded into this beautiful website known as Not the Bee. All Disrn subscriber features will be shifted over to Not the Bee and we are adding some extra benefits for subscribers as well. π
Disrn has had a fantastic run. It still gets millions of page views per month and is profitable. Why are we folding it into Not the Bee? Because that's the obvious thing to do at this point.
Disrn has been a success, yes, but Not the Bee is a rocket ship. Upon NTB's launch in September it blew up beyond anyone's expectations. Last month β its 7th month in existence β it notched 9 million page views. So, obviously, I've had to focus all my attention here because I'd be a fool not to. It's reaching a much larger audience and we're just getting started.
And with my shift in focus, Disrn began to stagnate. We tried several means by which we could keep Disrn on the path of growth we envisioned for it, but none of them panned out like we had hoped. Personally, I can't bear to see Disrn existing as something less than what I had envisioned for it. As I said, Disrn remains a popular and profitable site, but, frankly, Not the Bee has taken a sizeable chunk of its audience, given its more fun and vibrant nature and built-in social network.
Yeah, if you didn't know, Not the Bee has a fully functional social network for subscribers, with a lively community. You can't see it if you're not a subscriber. Developer Dan has spared no expense making NTB Social as good as any social network on the internet. You have a profile, a feed, you can follow whomever you choose, there are groups based around interests, users have community points ... the whole 9. It's a fantastic and civil place that people really love.
My podcast will continue on Not the Bee. In addition to that, Peter Heck is starting a new subscriber-only podcast on Not the Bee. Peter will also begin writing for Not the Bee, so you'll continue getting his opinion pieces here. Also, Joel A. will be running an official podcast on Not the Bee. So you subscribers now have more podcasts than you know what to do with. Also, we will be adding more.
We also plan to start picking up more important news items here on Not the Bee, to tighten any slack left by Disrn's absence.
So what if you're currently a bundle subscriber? Then you're already in at Not the Bee and you don't have to do anything but continue enjoying your subscriber benefits and looking forward to new features. And if you visit your dashboard, you will be able to claim a special gift from us that grants you a 33% extension on your existing membership, because we love you.
Also, if you're subscribed to Disrn's email newsletter, you'll now begin to get the daily Not the Bee newsletter. Same deal.
If you don't have Not the Bee's awesome app downloaded, you can find it right here for iOS and right here for Android. The app is fantastic for browsing the social network and getting article notifications straight to your phone.
I love Disrn with all my heart, and always will. This is not the death of Disrn but the molding of it into something greater β much like how Christian Daily Reporter became Disrn. Not the Bee is already humongous β just 8 months since its birth β and we are determined to make it one of the most effective and influential purveyors of truth and entertainment on the internet. We have big plans and we're so excited to have you joining us on this adventure.
Onward!
