Like something out of a comic book, 9-year-old Cooper from England was eating a sandwich when a seagull flew in and bit him. After that, much to his parents' consternation, he began screeching in imitation of the sky rats.
His mother said,
He wanted to become "Seagull Boy", like when Peter Parker became Spider-Man after being bitten by a spider.
"People would start to turn around and look for the seagull," she said.
You know what happens when you can you do a decent seagull impression, right?
You go to Belgium for their annual seagull screeching competition.
Check out a smattering of this year's contestants ๐
None of them held a candle to Seagull Boy.
He easily took home gold for Britain and has become a bit of a sensation:
Jan Seys, a marine biologist and one of the judges, said: "He managed to include several call types in his performance and each of them resembled a real seagull call in a most impressive way.
"In fact, for me, he was not only the best of the young participants, but of all those who took part in the championship."
I mean, what would you expect from Seagull Boy?
I do feel bad for the kid though.
Living life as a seagull superhero doesn't sound fun: Gathering in large numbers to annoy vacationers, drowning out others' conversations with loud noises, stealing food others have worked hard to gather?
If no one intervenes before the transformation is complete, I worry that he'll grow up and start gluing his hands to famous pieces of art while shouting about oil!
