A razor-thin margin over there in the House of Representatives:
Rep. Steve Scalise (La.) came out on top as House Republicans met Wednesday to pick their nominee for Speaker.
The conference was closely divided between the House majority leader from Louisiana and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). Indeed the final vote was close โ a win by 14 votes.
The nomination comes just over a week after California Rep Kevin McCarthy was ousted as speaker:
North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry has been serving as interim speaker while the nomination process has proceeded and the full House of Representatives will soon vote on whether or not to confirm Scalise in that role.
I'm not trying to pass judgement on Scalise either way - the man survived a bullet by a Bernie supporter, after all, and we've covered his best based and dank moments here at NTB - but pretty much zero people outside the RINO enclave in the Deep Swamp seem to be excited about the change from McCarty to Scalise...
Here's about as positive as it gets:
Even the people inside the Swamp aren't all happy!
Ah, Republicans: Masters of the status quo!
