British man receives £2 compensation for smooth Mars bar
· Dec 3, 2024 · NottheBee.com

When 34-year-old Harry Seager of Buckinghamshire posted this photo of a smooth Mars bar on the Dull Men's Club Facebook page he received thousands of likes.

One commenter called this mistake "hideous," which it was. Seager even emailed Mars Wrigley UK, and believe it or not he's now been awarded £2 compensation for the mix up - enough to buy another Mars bar, maybe two.

Here's what Seager had to say:

'The only reason I emailed [Mars] was because I was interested in what might have caused it to happen. That is all I wanted to know and they kept side-lining that question,' he said.

'I think £2 is great, it will be two free Mars bars. Maybe they could have sent me more but I'm not being ungrateful. I think it's amazing after everything that's happened that I got the £2 voucher.'

Don't spend it all in one place, Har!

Here's the letter Seager received from Mars, apologizing for the error.

Hi Harry,

Thank you for reaching out to us about MARS®. We're sorry to hear about your experience.

Two pounds in compensation!

Two pounds of chocolate would be more like it!

Apparently this imperfection occurred when the bar wasn't properly blown with air after it'd been covered in chocolate.

"A few people who used to work at Mars' factories commented and they said it goes through a machine called an enrober, which is like the waterfall the bars go through," Seager said. "Apparently they get blown with air along the top as it comes out of that waterfall. Apparently there's meant to be somebody at the end who removes the ones which haven't been hit by the air. I don't know what happens to them then. I suppose they got put into products that have Mars bars in, like cakes and things."

Well, I think I know what's going to happen to the guy or gal who forgot to discard this smooth-as-silk Mars bar. Either they'll have $2 taken out of their paycheck, or ...
