Time was, not very long ago, Britain had a very fine tradition of female athletes.

These days, the waters are a bit more muddied, and unfortunately nobody's quite sure how to handle female athletes in His Majesty's Dominion.

The Beeb reports:

Sky Sports has scrapped its new female-focused TikTok channel, Halo, after it faced a backlash online with its posts described as 'patronising' and 'sexist'.

...

The channel, which was only announced on Thursday, was described by the broadcaster as an 'inclusive, dedicated platform for women to enjoy and explore content from all sports, while amplifying female voices and perspectives.'

Pulling the plug on your women's sports brand after just a few days due to feminist backlash:

Now, Sky Sports yoinked the channel before anybody had much time to catalogue its lady-branded content for posterity. But evidently the endeavor, which billed itself as a "little sister" to men's sports brands, talked about "hot girl walks" and matcha.

The brand was also apparently infatuated with New York's new communist mayor.

Properly roasted over its simpering, pathetic content, Sky Sports quickly 86'd the whole brand and posted a simpering, pathetic apology:

Perhaps they'll try again someday! Though, in addition to toning down the pink themes and matcha content, we might suggest they actually focus on, you know, women's athletes. Per the BBC:

While the channel was aimed at women many of the sports stars featured in its posts were men.
