California, a worldwide leader in green energy, can't seem to produce energy

Why can't California keep the dang lights on?

California has the 5th largest economy of any state or country in the world. 34% of their energy is produced by renewables, with legislation requiring 100% "green" sources by 2045. According to the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, "A mandate in 2006 required utilities to purchase an increasing percentage of renewables each year beginning in 2010, or face penalties."

They have a Cap and Trade program. They lead the world in solar rooftop construction. They have built some of the largest solar and wind farms in the world. They boast some of the largest Tesla manufactured energy storage facilities in the world.

Yet last year, they experienced 25,281 blackouts affecting over 28 million people. Today, in the current blackouts, there are hundreds of thousands of people without power to their homes.

Green energy is weak!
