You wouldn't be able to explain modern crime to criminals from a century ago.
According to Fairfax County PD, on July 23rd around 9 a.m., a masked thief waited for the woman in a parking garage in Tysons, California. He "approached her with a rifle, grabbed her, and stole her phone."
The thief then let the woman escape.
The woman quickly found a way to contact her boyfriend (and the police). When they all arrived, the thief was nowhere to be found. Instead, he was back at the boyfriend's house, stealing his sweet stash of Pokémon cards.
At 9:25 a.m., the victim's boyfriend responded to the location and while on scene, he received an alert from his home security system. He observed a suspect breaking into his home in the 4500 block of Plateau Drive in Fair Oaks. Officers responded and confirmed that the home was burglarized and high-value Pokemon cards were stolen. The suspect fled prior to the officer's arrival.
Unfortunately, the perp didn't cover his tracks very well, because police claim they've nabbed the suspect just two days later:
If you missed it, please take a moment to appreciate Fairfax County PD's press announcement title:
Through their investigation, detectives quickly identified the burglary suspect as Mohammad Asif, 36, of California.
"Mohammad Asif ... of California."

With the assistance of the Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, detectives located Asif at a nearby residence and took him into custody.
The rest of the statement is rather vague, but it seems the police think California Man Mohammad might have had an accomplice, as they are still investigating if he was the same man at both locations.
Because it's 2025 and it's okay to ask questions now, people had thoughts:
Good luck getting an answer from the California authorities! 😂
