Honestly, this is refreshing to see.
Canadian author and journalist Malcolm Gladwell did something that no celebrity or public figure ever does. He admitted he was a coward and that he lied. He's ashamed that he didn't speak out about men competing in women's sports.
He publicly recanted:
If we did a replay of that exact panel ... it runs in exactly the opposite direction. It would be ... near unanimity in the room that trans athletes have no place in the female category.
According to Newsweek, this is in reference to the 2022 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference panel which Gladwell moderated, at the height of the trans madness. Gladwell thinks that, in the last three years, everyone has probably changed their mind.
Okay, that's the easy part. Men shouldn't compete with women and everyone knows it.
Here's the harder part:
I'm ashamed of my performance at that panel. Because I share your position 100% and I was cowed. The idea of saying anything on this issue - I believe, in retrospect, in a dishonest way I was ... I was objective in a dishonest way.
He was embarrassed, he was a coward, and he's ashamed for not speaking the plain truth.
Some lefties are mad, however, because it looks to them as if Gladwell is just taking the easy path.
When it mattered Malcolm chickened out, according to Tim. He only does what's popular.
Others are just glad he made it to the truth eventually.
Gladwell himself, the originator of the 10,000 hour rule in his book Outliers, would have to laugh at that one.
Michael Shellenberger makes a good point:

You don't hate the media enough because you don't understand just how powerful they are.
I'm glad Gladwell has broken out of the trans trance.
