Imagine being these two and receiving $40 for a mistaken order from half a continent away! ๐
On October 1, a man from Alabama intended to call a local restaurant to place an order, but instead ordered two cheeseburgers and fries from a restaurant with the same name ("Bentley's Burgers and Fries") from almost 2,000 miles away in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Owners Darcy and Laura Clarke said they were stunned to receive the money and an apology note.
Darcy remembers taking the man's order, telling As It Happens,
I noticed there was a Southern accent to it. No big deal because we get tours coming through all the time. I took the order and just went on about our day.

After the customer didn't show, they gave the food away and forgot about it.
Until they got the letter in the mail, dated the day after the incident.
The letter reads,
I was unable to pick up the food because I live in Alabama. Obviously, I called the wrong restaurant. I hope that the amount enclosed is enough to cover the cost of my embarrassing mistake.
The Clarkes say that the $40 enclosed is more than enough to cover the misplaced order, and they already know what they plan to do with the extra, with Laura saying,
Me and the husband have an ice cream shop that we run in the summer, so we were just going to put the remainder of that into the ice cream shop and give out free ice cream to the kids that come by in the summer.
What a sweet way to pay it forward!

They're also sending their new friend in Alabama a Christmas package:
โWe're gonna put some of all the positive comments that were on Facebook about it, and then we're going to photocopy those, put them in there with some of our stickers and some of our seasoning that we use,' Darcy said.
The best!
