A Kansas woman suffering from cancer has resorted to running a roadside stand to raise money for the $10,000-per-month medication that could save her life.

12 News out of Wichita has the details:

Over three years ago, Jennifer Gordy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Gordy had a double mastectomy, and it seemed to be the end of her cancer treatment.

However, a few months ago, she knew something was wrong.

Further tests revealed that Gordy's cancer was not gone and had instead progressed.

Now, her cancer is considered terminal spreading outside the initial tumor. Gordy says she feels more fatigue and pain in her day-to-day life.

Gordy's doctor has offered two medications that they say will starve the tumor.

'This medication will literally save my life,' said Gordy.

However, that medication costs $10,000, and Gordy says her insurance won't cover it.

Good old health insurance. Always there when you need it most.

To come up with the money needed, Gordy is now running a roadside bakery selling baked goods as well as clothing and coffee mugs. Every dollar goes to her medical expenses.

'Since I am no longer able to do my full-time job, I focus what energy I have on doing this to try and come up with that $10,000,' said Gordy.

Her husband, Adam, says that while he works in a factory, his wife works even harder to save her own life. He added that while the unknown is scary, they are trying to stay positive and enjoy the time they have together.

Prayers for Jennifer Gordy and for the success of her roadside stand.
