Can't make it up: Anne Frank kindergarten in Germany renaming itself to be "more diverse," "more inclusive"
· Nov 6, 2023 · NottheBee.com

You thought I was joking, didn't you?

Nope, not joking.

A German kindergarten has said it will drop Anne Frank from its name in favour of a "more diverse" alternative, adding fuel to the national debate over anti-Semitism amid the Israel-Hamas war.

Anne Frank was 15 years old when she died in the Nazi's Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.

"We wanted a name without a political background," Linda Schichor, the kindergarten's director, told a local newspaper.

Ms Schichor said that the story of Anne Frank was difficult to explain to small children, while immigrant families had "often never heard of her" or her diary about her family's attempt to remain hidden from the Nazis in occupied Amsterdam.

Ah, so because people haven't heard of important historical figures who have been instrumental in teaching generations of people not to repeat the same mistakes and hatred of the Nazis, we need to [checks notes] remove their names so they are forgotten entirely.

The kindergarten in the village of Tangerhütte said it is adopting a 'more inclusive' name.

"Inclusive" of whom, exactly?

Certainly not the millions of Jews your country gassed!

Want to know what the new name is?

No really, you're never going to guess.

It's the most boring, uninteresting, sterilized name in the history of names.

The kindergarten in the village of Tangerhütte, in eastern Germany, said it was rebranding itself "world explorer kindergarten" in order to be more inclusive.

WORLD EXPLORER KINDERGARTEN.

It's a safe, meaningless, completely bland name, like the "human beings" mascot in the show Community from a decade ago.

A representative of the local council backed the move, saying that the name change was part of a "conceptual overhaul" that would see that kindergarten put more emphasis on the "self determination and diversity" of the children in its care.

These people are woke idiots.

Forget Anne Frank at your own peril, ya fools!

For some reason, the school thought this was a good idea while millions of Muslim migrants are angrily flooding the streets of Europe to denounce the Jews in Israel.

But, coming at a time when Germany is engaged in soul searching over whether the lessons of the Nazi era are being forgotten, the name change has caused a national scandal.

Christoph Heubner, the deputy head of the International Auschwitz Committee, appealed for the name change decision to be reversed in a letter sent to the local council.

"If one is prepared to forget one's own history so easily, especially in these times of renewed anti-Semitism and Right-wing extremism, one can only feel fear and anxiety about the culture of remembrance in our country," he said.

More on the backlash from Politico:

"With all due respect to the conceptual changes of the institution and the fact that the story (not a fairy tale, but a true story) of the Jewish girl is difficult to grasp for small children (it was just as difficult to grasp a year ago and 50 years ago), this name change creates an unpleasant aftertaste right now," Max Privorozki, chairman of the State Association of Jewish Communities in Saxony-Anhalt, told POLITICO in an emailed statement.

Economy minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Sven Schulze, said that his party, the center-right CDU, "will of course not agree to the renaming of the Anne Frank daycare centre. I hope all the other councillors won't either. Not only in this day and age, but in general, such a proposal is completely absurd, instinctive and small-minded."

Werner Jacob, chairman of the town council in Tangerhütte, said that the council will oppose the name change this week.

On Wednesday, the town council will unanimously position itself against the proposal to rename the daycare center."

Instead of renaming the kindergarten to erase Anne Frank because migrants don't know her, Privorozki suggested having parents read her diary.

Now there's a thought!
