Check out this 2003 report of a government worker making $100,000 a year to do literally nothing

This was 22 years ago.

The larger story is even more insane. Dr. Edward McSweegan was an outspoken critic of a hack advocacy group called the Lyme Disease Foundation that wanted the US government to suggest the use of long-term antibiotics as a treatment. Run by two accountants, the foundation received funding from companies that sold intravenous antibiotics (because of course).

McSweegan, being the one to stand up to the corruption, was punished by the National Institutes of Health. They couldn't legally fire him, so they gave him the most boring job assignment possible. The situation only changed after Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley (yes, the man is still in office two decades later) demanded the NIH give McSweegan his position back.

The question for us now in 2025?

How many of these people are sitting fat on the money we are forced to pay the government?

Debt and inflation are crushing people. They can't afford eggs, let alone healthcare, let alone a home.

And then you see government workers with top-tier benefits complaining about responding to a simple email while the rest of us are working overtime to make sure our kids have food this week:

How many more McSweegans are there now in government?

I, for one, would like to know!
