Trooper Brack Miller of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, also known as the legendary man with stones of solid steel.
Watch:
Seriously, Miller takes a round through his windshield and doesn't bat an eye. He barely ducks as the suspect in the vehicle shoots at him over and over again while he attempts (and then succeeds) to run the criminal off the road.
Local NBC affiliate KFOR put it this way:
Miller kept his calm while dodging bullets from an Arizona armed robbery suspect's gun.
The shootout with the suspect, 32-year-old Charles Carswell, happened on the Turner Turnpike on April 2.
Unfortunately, we don't yet have video of what happened after Miller expertly disabled Carswell's SUV, but apparently the suspect whipped out an AK and had an old-fashioned standoff as police reinforcements arrived.
Sources told News 4 that's when Carswell got out of the SUV, grabbed an AK-47 and started firing at troopers. However, none of that footage was released by OHP.
Traffic was backed up for miles on the Turner Turnpike, as a standoff between Carswell, OHP and Oklahoma City kicked off.
The police finally called in the big guns to take the kill shot.
"It was like a war zone," said Wade Carter, who was stuck on the turnpike. "Everywhere you look, there was someone in gear with a gun."
Hours later, OHP's tactical team fired the fatal blow, killing Carswell.
"They're taking rounds and they're not hiding and they're not stopping there. They're becoming more aggressive because they know they need to do that to keep people safe," said Trooper Eric Foster.
Miller suffered only minor injuries in the shootout, and no other troopers were reported injured. OHP says it hasn't released the footage showing use of force by troopers since that (as with all use of force situations) is still under internal review.
