Christianity Today is promoting pastors that use AI for sermons ... just, why?

If your pastor has been sounding a little robotic lately, there may be an explanation for that.

Christianity Today, a publication started by the world's most famous preacher, Billy Graham, actually posted this on their website last week:

Yes, a pastor in Taiwan wrote of his experiences for the last six months when he used the Artificial Intelligence robot ChatGPT for help in writing his sermons.

This is the type of advice you'll find in the article, where the author thinks that, in time, ChatGPT will become emotionally intelligent enough to be much more humanlike than it is now.

One habit I implemented when I began my AI experiment was noting reflections and thoughts that occurred to me while having my daily quiet time. Later I input them in ChatGPT to synthesize these thoughts and help build out my sermon.

Or you could, you know, just think for yourself instead of using an impersonal machine.

I don't know, guys, this just seems like the worst idea ever.

But at least Church Curmudgeon was able to get one of the best all-time puns out of this story:
