I was told repeatedly over the last year that America is rife with widespread corruption rooted in deep-seated racism among our police officers, and that the only solution was to defund their departments and replace them with social workers.

People even believed that thousands of unarmed victims were being mowed down by the police in cold blood each year.

I guess that strategy and narrative isn't going so well...

Cities across the country are refunding police departments after nationwide "Defund the Police" movements last year led to law enforcement funding cuts.

Obviously, this is an outrage. I expect the mayors of NYC, LA, Seattle, Austin, Minneapolis, and others to decry this sudden budget boost to the most oppressive villains among us!

Let's check in with these city leaders now:

• Austin, Texas: "In the 2021-22 budget, council members were forced to restore funding to the Police Department budget, which is at its highest ever at $442 million."
• Oakland, California: "The Oakland City Council voted in approval of adding another police academy after previously approving fewer academies."
• Dallas: "Dallas, Texas, was also affected and saw a shift in messaging when Mayor Eric Johnson said in July that the city needs more police officers."
• Burlington, Vermont: "[Burlington] recently approved bonuses for police officers. 'In a meeting Monday night, councilors approved a proposal to help. It will be funded through coronavirus relief aid.'"
• New York City: "The budget increases spending for the New York Police Department by $200 million, including a $166 million increase for overtime."
• Los Angeles: "The Los Angeles Police Department also received 'a 3 percent boost' this year."

I have to wonder why these politicians are suddenly changing their tune after profiting off the "America is evil" cash cow over the last year.
