Oh, Canada...
The City of Toronto launched a disgusting, manipulative campaign ad pushing the COVID-19 vaccine on children targeting minorities.
The ads suggest kids need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for them to enjoy a normal life.
One of those ads was deleted from Twitter after some serious backlash.
The ad shows a young girl looking out her window at other children playing and asks her mother, "can I go outside and play with my friends?"
"No honey," the mother replies offscreen. "There's still something going around."
The girl, obviously very upset, says, "okay" and the text on screen says:
"Kids should be out there. Not in here. COVID-19 vaccines available for children 6 months to 12 years."
A truly disgusting ploy. Implying unvaccinated children should be kept inside and away from their friends.
The City of Toronto deleted the original post but did not apologize.
A spokesperson for the city Brad Ross told Joe Warmington, a Toronto Sun reporter, that the campaign "was intended to highlight the negative impact (the pandemic) has had on children and drive home the benefits of vaccine, as vaccination remains the most effective way to protect our children, families, communities and ourselves against the serious effects of Covid-19."
"We do believe we can better communicate this intent and, as such, we have removed the video to better address the core message of children being eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19," Ross said.
Well, the internet never forgets.
Plus, they kept the videos up on their YouTube page until True North, an independent Canadian media outlet, found at least five separate ads that seem to be part of this sick campaign.
This wasn't just something they tried but realized it was in poor taste. It was an actual campaign. A huge push to get those little arms jabbed.
This campaign cost the taxpayer $20,000 โ which has now been put on "pause" due to the overwhelming backlash.
Another ad shows an infant in a crib. You can hear a voice cooing over the adorable newborn, then you realize the voice is coming through over the phone, and they say, "When can we see her? We would love to see her and squeeze those cheeks!"
Then the text on screen reads: "Don't miss these moments. Get connected (in real life). COVID-19 vaccines available for children 6 months to 12 years."
In another edition of the City of Toronto's child vax campaign, they suggest you have to vax your kid so YOU can leave your house yourself!
The ad shows a kid barging into a room where her mom leads a virtual meeting. The mom obviously frustrated by it, and the screen reads: "She should be in school. COVID-19 vaccines available for children 6 months to 12 years."
Other ads suggest unvaccinated children are the reason for remote learning, not government lockdowns, and that physical connection is more important than virtual (which is why all kids need to be vaccinated, apparently.)
Currently, COVID-19 vaccines are not required to attend elementary or secondary school.
But the woke capital of Canada is obviously working very hard to change that.
