CNN journalist does something decent for once

CNN is leftist trash propaganda but a "mostly peaceful" organization that I love to hate, but I have to give credit when credit is due.

A CNN journalist, Christiane Amanpour, refused to conduct an interview with the President of Iran while wearing a headscarf.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi demanded she wear a headscarf during their meeting in New York, but Amanpour actually stood up for herself and women's rights.

Amanpour is a British-Iranian journalist that has been with CNN since 2009. She said no previous president had asked her to wear a headscarf outside of Iran before.

"Here in New York, or anywhere else outside of Iran, I have never been asked by any Iranian president – and I have interviewed every single one of them since 1995 – either inside or outside of Iran, never been asked to wear a head scarf," she said on CNN's "New Day" program.

Raisi's aide told Amanpour that the request was because of "the situation in Iran."

The "situation" being: the 22-year-old female, Mahsa Amini, who fell into a coma and died last week after the morality police arrested and beat her for not wearing a hijab.

Now with widespread riots in Iran with 17 people killed, the Iranian president might be feeling extra sensitive these days...

"I very politely declined on behalf of myself and CNN, and female journalists everywhere because it is not a requirement."

Raisi's aide made it very clear that the interview will not proceed if she does not cover her head and referred to it as "a matter of respect."

"Matter of respect" HA! Coming from an evil dictatorship...

Amanpour waited for 40 minutes for the president to show, but it was only his aide who finally came out to ask her to wear a scarf.

"Again, I said that I couldn't agree to this unprecedented and unexpected condition."

CNN isn't perfect (actually, it's the worst), but at least this one journalist has one tiny ounce of integrity left.
