Here are some of the crimes now considered "hate crimes" in Coeur d'Alene:
Intimidation, harassment, threat, and conspiracy.
These are already crimes, with definitions, but now the possibility of adding a "hate crime" charge on top of other charges is on the books.
This Idaho man spoke out strongly against the ordinance, which still passed unanimously.
Yes, this law is a law against thoughtcrime, in Orwellian terms. The courts will make it their duty to read minds and determine if "hate" was a motivating factor in a crime. It would also criminalize certain speech which could be arbitrarily defined as hateful and harassing.
Maybe Idaho ought to consider their own border wall.
