Come read this thread about the new ketchup cap that cost Heinz $1.2 million to design
· Feb 29, 2024 · NottheBee.com

Put this right up there at the top of "Things You Didn't Expect To See On The Internet Today."

Yeah, ONE-POINT-TWO MILLION BUCKAROOS for a KETCHUP CAP.

Seems pretty crazy, but maybe not if you're the largest manufacturer of the most popular condiment on the planet. How many times per second do you think someone out there squeezes a ketchup bottle?

An unexceptional country would have stopped with the simple design created in the boom following the second World War.

But this is America, the land of exceptionally exceptional things, and we don't settle for less than perfection.

Unfortunately, those little caps aren't recyclable. And while that might not matter since China isn't buying our recycled goods anymore and only a small fraction of plastic actually gets recycled, things like logic and reality have never stopped Americans from inventing solutions to problems they created!

It's impressive. American ingenuity extends to the smallest and most random of places.

The question is: Can we still make great things like our forefathers once did?
