We live in such fun times.

On Monday, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller posted this:

Instead of doing any critical thinking for themselves, the comment section quickly asked A.I. to tell them what was true and false.

That led Grok's algorithm to be weirdly angry, going full caps mode (remember that large language models draw much of what they perceive to be true from sites like Wikipedia and Reddit).

I quote,

"NO, STEPHEN MILLER IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH."

Unfortunately for the machines, it turns out that sourcing your opinions from the internet is a bad strategy.

Stephen Miller was very much telling the truth. Democrats are attempting to revert back to pre-2025 laws that allow illegals more access to healthcare that is paid by American taxpayers (many of whom can't afford insurance themselves). A 2023 study found Americans spend over $23 billion on illegals' medical bills annually, with a total nearing $3,200 in financial aid per illegal each year.

WHOOPS.

Grok's programming forced it to apologize:

Grok also admitted which sources it had initially consulted, which is as much a condemnation of those sources as it is those programming our artificial "intelligence" services.

Let's see: What do The Guardian, The Hill, CNN, NBC News, NPR, and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities all have in common?

I'll give you a hint from the latter's Wikipedia page:

To sum up:

  • A White House deputy chief of staff stated that Democrat politicians are blocking a spending bill because it doesn't provide taxpayer-funded healthcare to foreigners who are illegally in the country.

  • A random, anonymous account asked a machine if this was true.

  • The machine, citing Democrat propaganda outlets, said that the White House deputy chief of staff was lying.

  • Enough people believed the machine's regurgitation of leftwing propaganda that the White House communications director decided to respond directly to the machine.

  • The machine apologized to the White House for its error.
